The Year of Search

A couple of things have happened lately that bear mentioning. First, Google's sky high stock has gotten even higher ($211 today). And Microsoft has officially released its own search engine, after more than 2 years and over a billion dollars later. We think this marks the Year of Search. I don't mean a plateau but the beginning of the world taking Search seriously as a marketing medium.

Google's market value is $58 billion now, more than GM and Ford put together. The justification for that apparently is it earned 8 times more money this quarter($210 million) than it did a year ago. And this company is only 6 years old! Microsoft's serious entry into search surprises no one but signifies that it is a huge growth industry that they want a significant piece of. You will see more media and advertising from Microsoft about this entry than you have from them in a long time.

So what does this mean to you? With search becoming pervasive AND a recognized way to find what you offer, we think it means it gives you an opportunity to market your products and services efficiently worldwide, at the lowest cost, to a market that is looking for you! Search makes this possible - you just have to be taking advantage of it. Ask Google, Yahoo, Ask Jeeves and now Microsoft. They're making money because their customers are.
